Pros

The service in the restaurant and the people were very friendly and the atmosphere was excellent. We enjoyed the evening and the dinner a lot. The hotel is close to the town centre and because of that adapted for a visit to Beaune.

One has to climb many stairs to get to the room, which could be difficult for older people and the bathroom facilities need an improvement because of the chalk.

A bit difficult to locate the hotel. If you have trouble walking, mind that the hotel does not have an elevator and the rooms are situated on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

There are stairs but the staff was so helpful with bags and accommodating our needs, they were never an issue - the owner and his family were absolutely fabulous and I have only praise for how they run their hotel and restaurant - we ate a scrumptious meal there one night.

Too many stairs up to (and in) our room. Asked for a new bulb for one of the bedside lamps and was told it would be fitted while we were out at dinner, but we came back to find that it had not been. Cigarette burn marks in the bath. No drawers or shelves to unpack our clothes.

Brilliant location for walking the old town. Very accommodating staff, friendly and welcoming. They more than offset any cons below - for instance driving with us to public parking and giving us a lift back.

Access to parking - only public is available but understandable for the historic location. Limited area in front of the hotel to drop luggage. A good workout getting up the circular stairs to our room. Not recommended for older folks or those who are not sure footed!

You will need to want to be staying at a historic location - parking is not simple and there is no elevator to the rooms.

Returned to room at 5pm on first day and room had not been cleaned - staff were cleaning other rooms at that time so we left and returned later. The room was still not cleaned and was not cleaned at all that day. Another day no towels were left after cleaning. On a third day the door to our room was not locked after it was cleaned.

Location is good although hard to find by car. the history of the hotel is quite wonderful, as is it's interior when you step in. Not everyday one gets to stay in a hotel that old.

Can't bring big luggage up stairs to 3rd floor so had to take stuff out of it, leave it in the car in order to go up steps. .not everyone would do that. Not much "bang for your buck" as far as breakfast is concerned.

Pros

The staff were so very polite and eager to assist. The service was amazing, especially during dinner, which was, by the way, absolutely fantastic. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The hotel itself, a 12th century abbey, is definitely something to write home about. You feel like you're transported to another time and place. Wonderful experience and would gladly go back.
