The hotel was just beautiful. I loved opening the windows and looking out over the courtyard. It was very convenient to have parking and enjoyed the short walk to stores and restaurants. We wish we had planned to spend more time in Beaune.

Pros

The size of the rooms were amazing for the price. Great bathroom with double sinks walk in showers and huge king size bed - very comfortable. Room was quiet and secure. Our experience was elevated by the great young man at the front desk who was very helpful and went out of his way to be accommodating. i. e helping suggest good restaurants and make bookings for us. Booking second night and a great wine tour and answering all our annoying questions!

There is no elevator, but we were only on the second floor so it was not so bad. I thought 10 euros for breakfast was a bit steep. We went into town instead. Parking is a bit iffy but we got lucky and found a place right in front of the hotel's front door.

WiFi would request you to sign back in after a brief amount of time (about 30 min) even though you were not switching access points. Large tub was nice for bath but not well suited for showering as shower head did not reach very high, had to sit on tub to shower.

Nicely decorated and comfortable room, nice bed and bathroom. Best thing was the advice given by staff on restaurants and activities, we ate at l'Incontourable which was excellent and we would have been unlikely to find such a nice place without the recommendation. Other advice was also very helpful.

A poor quality breakfast at an unreasonable price was the only disappointment. Don't mind paying ten euro if I get a really nice spread of fresh fruit, bakery products etc but what we got should have been free of charge.

The cigar smoke wafting up to our room from the courtyard. I noticed cigars for sale in the dining area so I assume it is encouraged.

I wasn't used to the long, narrow pillow and didn't find it very comfortable. Also, the shower head could have been mounted higher than knee level, even though it was hand held.

We enjoyed everything about the stay, except breakfast. Breakfast consisted of stale croissants , caffe, and little else. At 11 euros per person, it was overpriced, and of poor quality.

Pros

This is a fabulous and slightly quirky hotel, but is great if you are looking for something a little different. We were greeted by the French version of Mrs Overall(Victoria Wood Show), which made the whole thing even more entertaining. The building is fantastic and very historic with rooms to match. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. The location was ideal for the short walk into the old town of Beaune.
