Hotel Le Bellechasse * * * *

Size of room and lobby, no feather pillow.

Staff was not very responsive, when the handle on the door to my room broke and it was impossible to get into the room. We wasted an hour trying to convince them that it was not due to us being too stupid to use the keycard that we couldn't get into the room but that there was really something wrong. As my jacket and handbag were in the room as well, I had to borrow a coat from my Mum and go out without my purse unless I had wanted to stay around and wait for them to locate the key to open the door. Incidentially, the key was locked inside the directors office, who was not even in Paris. The light in the toilet was also broken and the battery for the safe had run out. Obviously the general housekeeping isn't very good although the rooms were clean.

I was very disappointed with the nubmer of things that had to be fixed on the first day of my 3-day stay - the water did not drain properly in the sink, the room heating did not work properly despite being set at maximum, and the iHome (the iPod device) did not work and had to be replaced with a new one. I think these are the things should be tended to before guests check in, especially in a hotel that claims to be of the highest caliber.

The bathrooms could stand to be a little cleaner, the bathtub walls were a little dirty. The water in the sinks isn't very fast draining. The rooms are on the small side (not a big deal for me)--but ask for a corner room.

Internet did not work after the first day. No attachment for the shower at a higher level.

Funky rooms and limited amenities with respect to a four star hotel

I was in Paris for FIAC and wanted to be closer to the Grand Palais. I have stayed in many hotels in St. Germain, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I know. For such a small, intimate hotel, it was surprising that the front desk staff was never warm and welcoming upon entry or departure. The woman at the desk during the day was constantly harried and stressed. We arrived early for check-in and were given a room within 30 minutes of arrival. The room, 102, was on the first floor, looked out onto a courtyard, but felt extremely dark. The head of the queen-size bed was against the glass shower wall and there was not an adequate amount of space to unpack luggage. We went immediately to the front desk and asked for a room change. With a slight attitude, we were offered another room if we were willing to wait a couple hours. When we returned we were shown to the bag storage area to collect our luggage to carry our room. The room, 502, was on a higher floor and we immediately noticed the abundance of better natural light. Unfortunately, it was only after we had unpacked that we realized the room was as small as the first and there was not even a shower in the bathroom. The lighting in the space was inadequate. There was no light in the closet or ‘foyer’ area and it was difficult to see items placed in the closet and the instructions on the security box. The Christian Lacroix decor is a gimmick and I, unfortunately, fell for it. It got me in the door. However, I think Lacroix's exciting, over-the-top imagination is incongruous with the smallness of the space and the staff is unable to exude the same energy and passion that this genius was hired to create. Better luck next time, for Lacroix. .. and for me.

Rooms are small. Very small. I thought that by booking a Privilege room (the highest available) we would have a decent-sized room. We ended up in 101, where the bed was so close to the windows that I had to squeeze past the pillar between the two windows in order to get to my size of the bed. The creative bathroom layout is interesting but impractical. After our first night, our room wasn't made up when we returned to the hotel around 3:45 pm - I would have expected the room to be serviced in the morning. We waited in the bar area until the room was ready, but even there we had an unpleasant vacuum cleaner soundtrack, apparently because the reception and bar area were being cleaned in the afternoon too. In summary, as much as I liked the decor, I would not recommend this hotel for more than one night's stay.

Our room 402 too small. My wife wanted a shower.

Very small room for 300 euros. Expensive breakfast, should be included in room price for 300 euros.

Tiny rooms, maybe a little to much design in the rooms

The rooms are very very small and the so called "by Christian Lacroix decoration" seems to allow the staff of the hotel to save on the maintenance. We also dislike that the bathroom was not realy a room but a corner in the bed-room. This new fashion can work in a larger room, but not here: absolutely no space to put his toiletries! We didn't take our Breakfast at the hotel because it was served in an underground room, without any natural light. Terrible to wake up!

Front desk staff knwe NOTHING about local restaurants. Hallways smelled stale and were not clean.

Not many cons. toilet area had faint smell of cigarette smell and urine. think the floor held the urine smell. I have a sensitive nose. All else. .. C'est magnifique!
