All of our non smoking 50 bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed. They have been refurbished recently and are offering ensuite bathrooms, satellite TV, direct telephone, hairdryer and Air Conditionning.

Pros

Very convenient to the Metro (two blocks away). Very close to the Luxembourg Gardens. Very clean. Helpful staff. Large bathroom (by European standards) with bathtub in addition to shower. Surprisingly quiet for being on a somewhat busy street. Did not hear a lot of noise from the street or other rooms. Heater worked well (it was cold when I was there). The wireless internet worked smoothly.

Rooms throughout Europe are smaller than in the U. S. and this was the case; the bed took up the majority of the space. There was a desk and a small closet. I did not spend much time in the room so the smallness did not matter.

We have been travelling to Paris for many years and stayed at Des Mines majority of the time. Upon our return this trip we were shocked with the poor cleanliness of the rooms. We attempted to speak with the staff but they did not do anything about it. This is not good value for money. We will not be returning again. It appears the hotel is being ran into the ground, which is a shame.

Excellent location near the Luxembourg gardens, the Latin Quarter (and within easy travel distance to all major tourist spots in Paris), and near the B RER line (which goes to CDG). Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Breakfast was good.

It's very well located, near the RER and metro station, Panthéon, Sorbonne University, Luxembourg park. The staff are not sympathetic but they helped us when we needed information about touristic information.

It's noisy, since you can hear the sound of the metro passing right under the hotel. You can even feel the shaking of it's passage. It doesn't have air conditioning, only heating system. Imagine choosing of opening the windows and hearing the sound of the metro every ten minutes or closing the windows and feeling a warming sensation that you can fall asleep. The room is too small, the bathroom even smaller, there is no safety box.

The best thing about Hotel des Mines is its location which means it is easy to reach on the RER from CDG airport, is close to the beautiful Jardins des Luxembourg, the Pantheon, the Sorbonne, St Suplice and is within moderately easy walking distance of the river, Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame, Isles de la Cite and St Louis and the Pompidou Centre.

Hairdryer in bathroom was very weak. Mold Smell from A/C Unit. Breakfast @ 18Euro was not worth cost. Breads were dry and coffee was weak. Bfast at a nearby cafe was much better for 10Euro.
