Hotel Modern' Est * *

Hotel is old, needs some upgrading on the inside and facade Location a bit sketchy for me Very small rooms and bath (not a bad thing just FYI) Noisy from other guests and a noise I could not identify, like a train running somewhere

Unfortunately my room was near the road and it was pretty hot during summer and not open the window. So we had to open the windows at night and it is a bit noise, but luckily we were not light sleepers, so it was fine for us. However, I do prefer a room on the other side of the building. The shower room is a bit small, but acceptable with this price :)

Service was not impressive.

The man at reception was too pushy on the city's tourist boat ride. We did not express interest in it and the man gave us a flyer and ticket to take the ride. At the end of our stay, the man was asked for the ticket back because we didn't take the ride . When I told him I threw it out he became mad at me. Our stay would have been much better if he showed more interest toward our stay and the hotel's services instead of a boat ride that we didn't care about.

It's expensive but it's paris, the breakfast it's really "petit"

we got a ref number but it wasnot in the computer we waited for half an hour, the receptionist tried also to phone for another hotel by warm weather you must keep the window closed: very rumours fron the street

The breakfast-room was very small, hot and not lovely!

Rather thin walls---could hear snoring from the next room. Got a bit more hard-sell about tourism packages than I was ready for after a transatlantic flight. ..

-Very hot in room -Small room and bathroom -Rude receptionist (even for France) -No trash can in room

Some fresh fruit with the breakfast would be nice

Not much really, one light switch was broken but another switch could be used to turn on the light, no kettle or tea/coffee in room. I stayed at the end of March/beginning of April and the room was quite warm so I imagine it could be uncomfortable in the summer. There was no air con that I could see.

Sorrounding area is not very desirable, rooms are small

It's old. I stayed there just over 20 years ago, and I swear nothing has been updated or changed since - well, they hung a nice flat-screen TV up, but otherwise it's exactly the same, but with 20 years more wear on it. It's very clean, mind you, but it's the classic old style Paris hotel with bed-sized rooms, tiny bathrooms tucked in the corner with a plastic folding door, and all the creaks and groans of an ancient building. Being by the train station, people come in and out all night, but at least you don't have to feel bad when you get in at 3am and take a shower yourself. .. -Ancient and worn. -Small rooms, like "wow, this is a really small room" sized, even if you're used to European rooms. -Insulated from outside, but moderate noise from other guests round the clock and thin walls. -Elevator is literally the size of a phone booth. .. but at least there's an elevator, which is uncommon. -Nice and warm in the winter, but gets too hot so window must always be open, may be a problem on street side of hotel where there's more noise.

Shower was a bit strange. The curtain hung into the shower by about 7 inches at the bottom and water went all over the bathroom floor when you took a shower.

Very small room; too small shower cabin (not for big weight people); poor insulation, neighbors heard.
